06 Policy writer
About this prototype
Policy writing is at the heart of the plan-making process. It involves reviewing evidence and consultation responses, understanding the vision for the area and creating clear, robust policy that meets national and regional requirements and is supported by documented evidence.
What we wanted to learn
We know that policy drafting is a task where time savings could be made; it takes up many hours of officer time to manage and search evidence and connect this to policy as it’s being drafted. Officers need to look for documents in multiple places while drafting, and hold a lot of information in their heads. This was our first exploration into options for bringing sources of evidence directly into the evidence process. We wanted to learn how this would fit into the workflow, if it would save time, and whether it would increase confidence in policy making.
