About this prototype

One of the recurring pain points in plan-making is the time it takes for a plan to go through Examination - the process by which the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) review a Local Plan and monitor progress towards adoption. We wanted to explore ways to make it easier for Planning Inspectors to understand the progress of an LPA towards their Gateway 2 assessment.

What we wanted to learn

This prototype tests ideas to address two user stories:

  • As a planning inspector I need to quickly understand the overall progress of a local authority so that I can focus on where I can give feedback.

  • As a planning inspector I need to see the what is planned to be worked on further so that I can assess whether it will be sufficient at examination.

These relate to the Planning Inspector scenarios we’ve identified during Discovery.
